NIPRA Valenpugs Party in Mundelein IL (2-10-08) : It was great to meet so many fellow pug-lovers at this party held in nearby Mundelein, Illinois. Kerstin had discovered the Northern Illinois Pug Rescue & Adoption (NIPRA) website awhile back and has stayed in touch with the folks who run the group. I brought my little 3.2 MP camera with me, originally just to take a few pix of our Riptyde interacting with other pugs. Well, as a college journalism major and former professional photographer, I know a good story when I see one. So, despite not having my best camera with me, I decided to cover this event for NIPRA. Prints are available at a modest cost to anyone interested. I am not looking for any glory or big money on this deal -- just trying to be of service to a most worthy organization. --Bob Friend, Feb. 2008

MOVIE: Box-Headed Bully Monster (1-24-08) : First, sorry for the, uh, unfinished look of our kitchen floor; we'd gotten the slate tiles all cut and mortared into place, but we had yet to apply the grout, clean up, move stuff back to where it belongs, etc., etc. At any rate, messy floor or not, I could not resist shooting a short flick of Daisy when I looked over and saw that box stuck onto her massive head! MOVIES: Daisy & Riptyde at Home (10-9-07) : These are two short movies of our two dogs, Daisy (English bulldog girl) and Riptyde (pug boy). We adopted Daisy in 2003 at age 8, and Rippy the same year at age 3. Daisy has always been in remarkable health for a bulldog so old, but she definitely slowed down after suffering a series of seizures in April of 2007. At this writing, Riptyde is approaching eight years of age -- but still retains many puppy-like qualities. NOTE: JUST CLICK ON EACH STILL PHOTO TO START EACH MOVIE! Bob Friend January 2008

MOVIE: Kiddo & Rippy (10-14-08) : Kerstin and I were babysitting my son Jon's dog, named Kiddo. When I DIDN'T have a camera handy, Kiddo REGULARLY "attacked" (playfully) Riptyde, trying to get him to "fight" back, chase her around, etc. (He refused to participate 99% of the time.) When I DID have a camera, Kiddo became quite docile. INTERESTING DOG !! This is a video of Kiddo and Rippy -- I had bad luck trying to get these two pooches to "perform"!
